Hadith 247

Abu Huraira said: “As the Prophet said (Allah bless him and give him peace):‘The most poetic saying spoken by the Arabs is the saying of Labid: “Everything but Allah is surely futile!'”

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم، قَالَ‏:‏ أَشْعَرُ كَلِمَةٍ تَكَلَّمَتْ بِهَا الْعَرَبُ كَلِمَةُ لَبِيدٍ‏:‏ أَلا كُلُّ شَيْءٍ مَا خَلا اللَّهَ بَاطِلٌ‏.‏
